Housekeeper 
Department: HOUSEKEEPING SERVICES Job Title: HOUSEKEEPER JOB SUMMARY: Performs cleaning and sanitation duties and is responsible for the cleanliness and servicing of designated areas. REPORTS TO: General Manager KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Cleans, disinfects, residents bathrooms and kitchenette, washes kitchenette and bathroom floors, vacuums suites. Empties trash baskets and garbage from residents rooms, laundry rooms and places garbage bags in the dumpster. Does resident linens and personal laundry as required and returns to residents suite. May strip and make beds; remove, wash and hang drapes; and wash windows as required. Cleans residents rooms after an accident. Cleans common areas after an accident. Prepares cleaning solutions and utilizes cleaning supplies as directed. At end of shift, checks and restocks housekeeping supplies on cart to predetermined levels for start of next shift. Performs work with attention to the efficient use of cleaning supplies or similar supplies. Reports safety hazards, damaged and/or equipment, fixtures and fittings and supplies to be replenished. Ensures cleaning equipment and supplies are used and stored in a safe and efficient manner. Reports unsafe or faulty equipment to the Assistant Manager. Ensures cleaning equipment and designated work areas are kept clean and tidy. Maintains a current knowledge of and complies with all departmental policies and procedures. Train new staff as required. Performs other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training and Experience: Grade 10 or equivalent 1 year of housekeeping experience in a hotel, senior s community or similar environment or combination of education, training and experience. Job Skills and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal with others effectively. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to organize work. Ability to operate related equipment. Must be in good physical health and free of communicable disease. Shift Time: 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday HOUSEKEEPERS DUTIES Following are services performed for our residents in each of the suites on a weekly basis: Bathroom Clean shower, sink and toilet Clean mirror Wipe off counters and cabinets Dust lights and wash floors Kitchen Clean exterior of all appliances, wipe cabinets, wash sinks, counters and floors General Cleaning Vacuum rugs Clean interior of windows Remove marks from walls and clean minor spills of carpet Bed Change/Laundry - if required Wash sheets, pillow cases, small blankets All suite incidents and/or accidents must be reported to the Housekeeping Manager or in her absence the Administrator.Upon completion of suite cleaning, check with the Housekeeping Manager for further instructions. Write in the Maintenance book any work needed in the suites. Give the suite number and the work needed - in detail. GENERAL RULES 10 minutes allowed before lunch and at the end of your shift to prepare the cart for the next shift. TRAINING Work one shift with another housekeeper. Learn how to use the carpet cleaner. Must be shown how to properly make a bed. Outside of toilet must be cleaned as well. When going to kitchen to get lunch, DO NOT GO IN THE KITCHEN, ask the kitchen staff for your lunch. You are cleaning toilets and must not be in the kitchen or help yourself to any food.
