Internal advancement redeployment opportunities ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY We are seeking a highly motivated, team-orientated individual to join our Community Service team team as a Community Engagement Lead. Reporting to the Director of Community Services, the primary purpose of the Community Engagement Lead is to foster, form, and strengthen respectful relationships with MNBC Chartered Communities and to ensure the communities are self-sustaining and thriving for M tis people. The position will be responsible for nurturing these relationships and will connect/inform communities and citizens of internal and external resources. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Works collaboratively with communities to identify challenges, barriers, and successes in communications and information flows between Chartered Communities and MNBC. Based on feedback and guidance the Community Engagement Lead will develop tools, systems, and supports to improve and enhance communications and information flows. Liaises with MNBC ministries to develop a plan aimed at sharing information related to MNBC s programs and services to communities in an easily digestible and timely manner. Collaborates with communities to develop an annual calendar of activities such as engagement sessions, skill-building, and capacity-building workshops, and identifies opportunities that suits the needs of individual communities. Consults with the Director of Community Services to assist in the development of a Community Service strategic plan that directly aligns and supports the overall strategic plan of MNBC. Assists communities with the development of culturally relevant programs and services supported by grant funding to grow M tis culture and connection. Contributes to increased capacity of Communities by researching and sharing information related to available funding and/or grant opportunities. Oversees the administration of third-party funding and identifies innovative ways to ensure a streamlined, standardized, and simplified approach to reporting requirements for communities. Mentors and supports Community Engagement Coordinators with creating and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with MNBC ministries and communities. Creates guidelines, processes, and procedures that outline duties to be performed by MNBC Community Engagement Coordinators. Collaborates with MNBC ministries to create or improve and unify processes and procedures (e.g., cheque requisition distribution and tracking). Assists communities with events, facilitates virtual or in-person community meetings or collaborations to share information, create best practices, and celebrate successes in MNBC Chartered Communities. Manages and supports the financial integrity and accountability of MNBC programs, monitors expenditures within existing budgets and guidelines, reports out, and makes recommendations. Supervises staff including assignment of work, development and evaluation of performance plans, approval of leave, response to grievances and initiation of discipline processes. THE IDEAL CANDIDATE A post-secondary degree or diploma in a related discipline such as Event Planning, Business, Communications, Community Relations, or another related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. At least three (3) years experience in program coordination. Knowledge and/or awareness of the historical and contemporary contributions made by M tis people in BC. The ability to collaborate with M tis Communities and citizens to build positive and mutually beneficial relationships. Previous experience working in an Indigenous community is considered an asset. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Ability to lead, problem solve and utilize team-building skills. Proven ability to utilize strong interpersonal skills to deal with others effectively. Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision. Proven ability to utilize, adapt and embrace new technologies, including Microsoft Office 365 and other databases/software required by the position. OTHER COMMENTS Other duties may be assigned as needed to help ensure the efficient operation of MNBC. There will be a need to attend meetings and events which may require work and travel outside of the normal business hours. Ability to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check. Valid BC Class 5 Driver s license and access to reliable personal vehicle for work purposes.
